What's the idea behind ICQ 6?

ICQ 6 introduces a whole new world of communication, a world where it's all about the user. It has a new look, it's easy to use and let's the user create his or her own communication experience. ICQ 6 is not just an upgrade but rather a total reinvention of the entire IM communication experience. It's an innovative version with an entirely new software and a completely redesigned UI. ICQ 6 lets the user communicate in various ways - all in a single message window. All within a fresh, new design and a friendly interface which creates a seamless interactive experience supported by a new and original soundtrack composed by Infected Mushroom exclusively for ICQ.

Is ICQ 6 different from all the other IMs out there?

ICQ 6 brings the overall design of today's IMs up-to-date. We have improved the capabilities of the IM, so instead of using one program for phone chat, Video and another for text and instant messaging, we've created an instant messaging service that allows you to keep your individual communication needs organized exactly as you please. ICQ 6 will be the optimal communication tool, not just the simple IM as we know today.

Why have you removed ICQ 5.1 features from ICQ 6?

We've been rewriting all of our features from scratch. Think of it as reinventing your instant messaging experience. Gone are the separate programs for chat, making a call, and using video. We've brought it all together into one package, where navigation is simple and organized.

How can I let you know what I think about the ICQ 6?

You can post feedback and ideas on our message board. We always value suggestions and ideas from our users.

Why the new look?

We've added more components to the ICQ 6 user interface, with all the additions and the redesigning of the old ones we wanted a fresh new look to a new innovative product.

Which features were improved?

Some of our features were improved to fit within our new layout, others were written from scratch.

New, improved and innovative features in ICQ 6 include:

• Quick IM - letting the user send messages to contacts without opening a message window.
• Easy message access - simple navigation between incoming messages.
• Tabbed conversations - easy switch between ongoing conversations.
• History - new design to search history of messages, files, calls etc.
• Search - easy-to-use search through the Contact List, on the ICQ site, and on the web.
• File sharing - quicker, safer and with auto accept of files from contacts plus option to close window while transferring files.
• ICQ 6 now support up to 1000 friends in your Contact List.
• Soundtrack - an all new soundtrack composed exclusively for ICQ by the progressive psy-trance duo Infected Mushroom.

Any new stuff planned in the future?

New updates are planned to be released througout the year. One of the aspects in future updates that we would like to focus on is user involvement, which is essential to the ICQ 6 experience. For example ICQ is looking into ways to enable users to create their own ICQ Xtraz features or languge packages. ICQ 6 updates are also planned to include new packages of sounds, emoticons, devils and tZers that can be easily downloaded and shared. Updates are also planned to include our own web 2.0 services, such as ICQ Pictures, ICQ Videos and a new ICQ Mail service.

When will the new updates be released?

We're aiming to release the updates throughout the year. Stay tuned.

When will ICQ 6 be released in customized partner versions?

Most of our major partners are aiming to release customized ICQ 6 versions in the near future. In addition to the customized partner versions planned, ICQ 6 is also to be released in several new languages.
